Each page of the 2023 Calendar offers showcases interesting insights to illustrated the ways Naples and Seville are bound together, both in ancient and contemporary history.
The historic gardens, the wonderful courtyards and the halls of the Real Alcazar, a Unesco World Heritage Site since 1987, were the extraordinary setting for the gala evening themed “A Moorish touch”.
The Moorish suggestions of the site inspired the music, the dances and the dinner and the guests paraded with Arabesque veils and stoles, turbans, hats and decorations. The parterre is important, among the exclusive guests, a unique opportunity to get to know the wonders of the capitals of the world, to cross the threshold of secret palaces and often inaccessible monuments. It is the great merit of this event: to dispense beauty, promote culture and amazement.
If the Real Alcazar on Saturday evening enchanted the guests with oriental dances and the voice of soprano Carmen Giannattasio who, surprisingly, interpreted the Habanera of Carmen looking out from one of the windows of the monumental courtyard; flamenco was the great protagonist of the Friday evening at the Real Venta de Antequera inspired by the famous “Feria de Abril”.
A parade of Andalusian horses and young women in traditional dress welcomed guests under hundreds of farolillos, the typical colored paper lanterns. Live music and flamenco dances, freshly cooked paella and then tortillas, churros and Iberian jamon punctuated the evening in a festive crescendo until the final show in the arena with an equestrian flamenco performance.
